Your definition of cheating

In my opinion, there are three types of cheating. There is academic cheating. There is professional cheating. And there is emotional cheating. Academic cheating involves everything from a slight yet deliberate glance at a neighboring classmate's exam to obtain an answer that you were too ill-prepared to come up with on your own to paraphrasing or directly and deliberately copying another student's term paper out of laziness and sheer lack of knowledge. This type of cheating usually involves some type of academic warning system at its first or first few occurrences and it is usually swiftly followed by the certainty of academic dismissal or expulsion if the cheating pattern persists.

Then there is professional cheating. My mom and I both have suffered greatly at the hands of professional cheating. This type of cheating also involves plagiarism (that is the willful taking of another's work) but it also involves a boss or superior being allowed to take unfair advantage of you by either allowing you to do all the work and yet still get full credit for it or being allowed to repeatedly blame or treat you unfairly. This type of negative treatment might entail everything from not being offered a job but being expected to do it anyway to being either unfairly compensated financially or not compensated at all for a job already performed. This is incredibly unethical behavior. But the reality is, it happens all the time-either because a boss has less knowledge than you and wants to use your skills and abilities to seem impressive without allowing you to share the credit or because he or she simply does not care whether or not something illegal or criminal is going on. What is your best defense? I believe it is to let your superiors know that you are aware of their actions and ask them if they intend to either stop or to reconsider compensating you in a fair and just way. Should they refuse to cooperate, you might want to plan ahead and figure out whether it is appropriate for you to consider quitting or actually quit in the future.

And then there is the worst type of cheating-the emotional kind. This is when you date, "see" or at best, betroth yourself to one person-theoretically signifying a commitment to them-while simultaneously acting on your (at the time) perceived greater emotions for another. This type of cheating usually results in a marital affair or divorce-and at its very worst, the certainty of very wounded feelings, and a broken heart in need of time to mend and the need for a mediator to facilitate self-reflection and healing. If you truly love the one you're with or have any moral fiber in you, seriously reconsider this form of cheating.
